About our Illam children

Our children, (girls and boys aged between nine & sixteen) are housed in a friendly family atmosphere. They are well fed and clothed and go to the local schools. At the end of April 2016 we had around 50 children.

They come from families that are so poor they can't afford to send their children to school. Often, there is just one parent who is almost destitute and has no home. The parents who come to us are uneducated, well meaning people who want a better chance for their children than they themselves had. Many of them come from isolated places.

Many of them move on to tertiary studies and have chosen a variety of subjects such as B.Com, Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering.
