Year-end outing for Illam Children!

On 31st December, our Illam children went on a Thinaiodi trip to Thanjavur. Thinaiodi is a DHAN environmental literacy initiative that educates children on the various Thinais or ecosystems of Tamil Nadu. These educational trips also include visiting related cultural and heritage sites. Our children visited the Grand Anaicut originally built by Chola kings (100-150 C.E/A.D) to divert the waters of the Kaveri river and the grand Brihadeeshwara temple for Lord Shiva built by a Chola emperor (10th C.E/A.D). The topmost stone of the temple tower, an engineering marvel, weighs about eighty tons!
