Caring for Our Students’ Health and Wellbeing

At Karunai Illam, we know that healthy children are happy learners — and this past quarter has kept our health team busy making sure everyone stays well and strong.

The season began with sweltering days and ended with surprise rain after mid-September. As often happens with sudden weather changes, a few children came down with fever and colds, especially those with lower immunity. Thankfully, all cases were managed quickly with first aid and doctor consultations when needed.

Our routine medical check-up on July 4, 2025, gave us a clearer picture of each child’s health.

  • Hemoglobin levels: Three children showed moderate levels and twenty-five mild ones. We’ve introduced new nutrition charts and special menus to help boost their iron and energy.
  • BMI (Body Mass Index): Twelve children were underweight and five a little on the heavier side. Each now has a simple plan — more nutritious meals, fun physical activities, and regular follow-ups to help them reach a healthy balance.

We’re proud of how our children are learning to care for themselves — eating better, staying active, and understanding that good health supports every part of their journey.
