Festivals, Learning, and Inspiration at the Illam
Late August and early September were full of colour, energy, and celebration at Karunai Illam! Our children and staff came together for a series of meaningful events that blended tradition, learning, and encouragement.
Vinayagar Chaturthi (August 27, 2025):
The students joyfully celebrated Vinayagar Chaturthi by creating their very own Vinayagar idol — a beautiful, hands-on expression of devotion and creativity. Alongside the festivities, the day became a gentle lesson in caring for our planet, as the children learned about nature, ecology, and the importance of wildlife.
Home Management Committee Meeting (August 30, 2025):
The committee met to plan for the season ahead and passed three key resolutions:
- To strengthen safety measures for the coming rainy season.
- To ensure all admissions and discharges are approved by the District Child Welfare Committee.
- To explore new ways to keep students inspired and enthusiastic about learning.
Visit from Mr. Shankar, KIT Chair (August 30, 2025):
On the same day, we were delighted to welcome Mr. Shankar, Chair of the Karunai Illam Trust. He spoke warmly to the children, encouraging them to stay curious, work hard, and dream boldly. The students pledged to do their best in their studies — a proud moment for everyone.
Teachers’ Day Celebration (September 5, 2025):
To end the season on a joyful note, the students organised a heartfelt Teachers’ Day celebration to show their appreciation for the staff. The event was filled with smiles, songs, and gratitude, and even included a chance for the students to share their own ideas and hopes for the future.
These weeks at Karunai Illam reminded us how much joy and learning can come from community, tradition, and shared purpose.
